Cassidy Guimares #8

What does being a powerful woman mean to you?
Standing fully in your truth and supporting other women.

What is something you have done, overcome, created, or accomplished that makes you proud?
Right now, I am working full-time while pursuing an MFA in Screenwriting from Emerson College. It’s a lot of hard work, but I am proud that I am trusting myself and pursuing my dreams! And I’m proud that my writing has been published and performed across the country. Next up: my first short film!

Who is a woman who has influenced, inspired, or empowered you—and why?
My mom. She teaches me how to be a strong self-advocate. In a world that is often dismissive of what women say and how women feel, this is a must!!

What is something you know about yourself now that you didn't know when you were younger?
That I am brave, can do hard things, and can go after the things that I want! Little Cass struggled with anxiety and believing in herself. (Older Cass struggles with this too, sometimes!) She would be so happy to know that we have been brave in seeking help and overcoming challenges that once seemed insurmountable. (Challenges like public speaking—look at how that’s turned out!)

What do you bring to your family, your work, your community, or the world that you believe matters?
I think my superpowers are my empathy, work ethic, and ability to listen. I try my best at everything I do and do my best to make sure others are heard, understood, and included. I think the world is made better with more empathy in the mix!

What is one thing you will never apologize for being?
I will never apologize for being gentle, optimistic, or for believing the better in people. Life is tough. We all deserve grace.

And finally: What makes you roar?
THE PEOPLE I LOVE! THEATER!!! COMMUNITY!!!!!
