Grace McCarthy #2

What does being a powerful woman mean to you?
Being a powerful woman means accomplishing incredible things in male-dominated fields and supporting and uplifting other women doing the same.

What is something you have done, overcome, created, or accomplished that makes you proud?
In my master’s program, I created a curriculum for middle- and high-school-aged students on sexual assault prevention. As someone who has faced many challenges, I want to be a resource, especially for young girls who may be facing similar challenges.

Who is a woman who has influenced, inspired, or empowered you—and why?
My mom. If I could be half the woman she is, I’d be happy. She’s allowed me to be whatever I want to be, whatever I wanted to do. She would find a way to make it happen.

What is something you know about yourself now that you didn't know when you were younger?
How independent I can be. When I was 18, I moved to Boston all by myself and was completely self-reliant. When I was younger, I could rarely do anything alone. It’s something I’m incredibly proud to have discovered about myself!

What do you bring to your family, your work, your community, or the world that you believe matters?
Empathy. You never know what someone else is going through; it’s important to display kindness when you can.

What is one thing you will never apologize for being?
Incredibly passionate about the things I love, a caring and forgiving person to all.

And finally: What makes you roar?
Theater, music, the beautiful women I’m surrounded by every day, and black raspberry ice cream!
