What does being a powerful woman mean to you?
Being a powerful woman means standing up for and staying true to the things that you believe in and care about.
What is something you have done, overcome, created, or accomplished that makes you proud?
I’m proud that I no longer let my stage fright stop me from trying. I’ve been interested in acting since early middle school, but fifth-grade me would never believe that I have recently auditioned for and performed in plays.
Who is a woman who has influenced, inspired, or empowered you—and why?
My mom. She has always supported me and my siblings in whatever we want to do. She is good at being herself, which inspires me to do the same and care less about what others think of me.
What is something you know about yourself now that you didn't know when you were younger?
I really enjoy talking to people, including new people. I was very shy when I was young. I didn’t like talking to people I didn’t know, and people often called me quiet. Now, I like to start conversations with people and learn about them, whether I know them well already or not at all.
What do you bring to your family, your work, your community, or the world that you believe matters?
I think I am a good listener. I want everyone around me to feel understood and accepted, so I try my best to provide a listening ear and do what I can to make sure people know their worth.
What is one thing you will never apologize for being?
I will never apologize for being emotional. I care very deeply about the people I love and the things that I am passionate about, and I’m not afraid to let that show.
And finally: What makes you roar?
A good book! I have such a love of reading, and I want everyone to have access to books that they love and enjoy. I think there is a book out there for everyone, even people who don’t think they like reading.
